From the Tri-M website: The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for middle/junior high and high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Through more than 5,500 chartered chapters, Tri-M has helped thousands of young people provide years of service through music in schools throughout the world.

You can find more information about the National Tri-M organization on their website....

In order to be considered for membership in Franklin's Tri-M group, students must be active members of either the Band, Choir or Orchestra program at Frankliin.  In addition, students must be in good academic standing in all classes and go through an application process in order to be accepted.  Applications will be reviewed by Mrs. Blacker (Tri-M Sponsor/Choir Director), Mr. Brown (Band Director) and Ms. Lewis (Orchestra Director).  In the Fall, applications will be open to 7th and 8th graders only.  6th graders will be welcome to apply in the Spring for the following school year.

TRI-M Activities

Members of FMS Tri-M will be participating in a variety of activities.  These activites will fall into the following 4 categories; a community/school based service project, an original composition, an independent study project, and a field trip to observe professional musicians at work.  All of these activities will be developed in cooperation with the rest of the Tri-M members and Mrs. Blacker, the Tri-M sponsor.

2011-2012 Tri-M Schedule

The following is the schedule for the Fall Semester for Tri-M.  Other dates may be added, so check back often!

We will be planning on meeting on every other Monday from 3-4pm.  It is possible that we would have to move a meeting date based on school holidays, concerts, rehearsal, etc.  In addition, if your group wants to come in and work on their composition on some other day/time, you can arrange that with Mrs. Blacker.  Please put these dates in your calendars immediately.  Sometime in the Spring, we will also plan to take a field trip to see professional musicians at work.   Officers may also have extra meetings with Mrs. Blacker.  I will try to keep our website updated with all Tri-M information.
